In an effort to help keep the patients, staff, and community safe during the coronavirus crisis, Salerno Medical has taken the initiative to triage our patients prior to entering the East Orange and Newark medical offices. Triage tents have been set up at the front of our offices.

The following procedures have gone into effect today.

In the triage tent, the patient’s temperature will be taken by a medical assistant. If the patient does not have a temperature, they will proceed into the medical office.

If the patient does have a temperature of greater than 99°, they will be seen by a clinician in an evaluation tent set up at the rear of the building. The plan of care/treatment will proceed, from there.

The tents have been set up with medical supplies, table and chairs, heater, and telephone. The entrance to each tent has a roll down closure, for patient privacy.

Also, Telehealth has been implemented at our office, to provide health care delivery, education, and health information services.

FYI…. The Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) defines Telehealth as the use of electronic information and telecommunication technologies to support clinical health care, patient and professional health-related education, public health, and health administration. Technologies include video conferencing, the internet, store-and-forward imaging, streaming media, and terrestrial and wireless communications.
